Competitive Alternatives New Features

KPMG's Guide to International Business Location

Competitive Alternatives 2008 represents the seventh published edition of the Competitive Alternatives series, and offers a number of new features, as described below and on the following pages.

Expanded NAFTA coverage

Competitive Alternatives 2008 provides two significant enhancements in coverage of the NAFTA market:

  • Includes all 50 US states for the first time.
  • Coverage of Mexico for the first time.

Results for all countries and cities covered in the NAFTA region can be explored using the Detailed Results section of this website. For example, click here to access a quick comparison of business costs for R&D in the five Mexican cities studied, as compared to Canada and the United States.

The map below provides a quick overview of the relative cost competitiveness of the cities examined in each of the US, Canadian, and Mexican states and provinces included in Competitive Alternatives 2008.
